Luke places Jesus’ birth within real history as Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem and the promised Savior is laid in a manger. Angels announce good news of great joy to shepherds, who respond by going to see Him. They return praising God, while Mary treasures and ponders what has happened.
The wonder of Christmas is God becoming man to save sinners through His death and resurrection. His peace calls for faith in the Savior, not simply enjoyment of the season. Like the shepherds, we are invited to respond to His Word, adore Him, and make known what He has done.
