Mary and Joseph bring Jesus to the temple according to the law, where Simeon and Anna recognize God’s promised salvation. Simeon rejoices in the light given to Jews and Gentiles, and Anna speaks about Jesus to those awaiting redemption. Each witness directs attention to the child who has come to fulfill God’s promises.
Jesus fulfills the law perfectly and becomes the unblemished sacrifice for sinners who cannot make themselves holy. Through His death, our sin is paid for and His righteousness is given to those who trust Him. Having received this grace, we are called to dedicate our lives to testifying to the good news of Jesus.
