FROM THE WORD

Luke 2:41–52 | Being About the Father

January 4, 2026

After the Passover, Mary and Joseph discover that twelve-year-old Jesus has remained in Jerusalem. They find Him in the temple, listening, asking questions, and astonishing the teachers. His reply reveals a life devoted to His Father, even as He returns home in submission and continues to grow in wisdom and stature.

Jesus’ obedience leads all the way to the cross, where He gives Himself for people who have pursued their own desires. His example and saving work call us to repentance and wholehearted dedication to the Father’s will. Rather than settle for religious attendance, we are invited to learn, grow, and be available for the work of the gospel.
