Zechariah and Elizabeth have walked faithfully with God, yet they have grown old without children. When Gabriel announces that Elizabeth will bear John, the prophet who will prepare the way for the Lord, Zechariah struggles to believe. His silence becomes a reminder that God remembers His people and fulfills His promises in His appointed time.
God desires trust that produces obedience, reaching even the parts of our lives we hesitate to surrender. The same gracious God who prepares the way for Jesus calls us to repentance and faith, then fills His people with His Spirit so that our lives can point others to the Savior.
