In Luke 6:12–16, Jesus withdraws to a mountain and spends the night in prayer before choosing the twelve apostles. This sermon considers the urgency and intimacy of Jesus’ prayer with the Father, the significance of mountain moments throughout Scripture, and the sending of the apostles as part of Christ’s work to build and send His church.
Through Jesus, believers are brought near to the Father—not through a place, ritual, or another mediator, but through Christ alone. Because Jesus is our mediator and intercessor, prayer is not a chore but a gift of relationship with God, shaping our dependence, repentance, worship, and mission.
