From prison, John the Baptist asks whether Jesus is truly the promised Messiah because Jesus’ ministry does not match his expectations. Jesus answers by pointing to the works foretold in Scripture: the blind see, the lame walk, the dead are raised, and the poor hear the good news.
When God’s timing and actions differ from what we expected, we are called to remember who Jesus is, trust his mercy, and remain faithful without stumbling.
